I Visited a Salt Room and You Totally Should TooI couldn't believe how calm I felt after spending 30 minutes breathing in salty air |
How I Felt Afterwards Once I was back outside, I expected my nose to start running immediately—because that's what usually happens when I go from a warm environment to a cold one. But nope—that didn't happen. My nose was completely clear (my nose didn't run and I didn't sneeze for the next four days).
Beyond that, I felt seriously zen, like I had just done a yoga class or gotten a massage. I walked 10 blocks to Whole Foods and felt calm enough to brave the Sunday crowds. I usually stress on Sundays about the upcoming work week (the Sunday scaries are definitely real) but I felt at ease the entire rest of the day. In fact, it took everything in my power not to fall asleep as soon as I got home!
I didn't notice any difference in my skin's texture after the salt bed session but you can't have everything, right? Given what it did do for my allergies and my mental wellbeing, I'd absolutely try it again—I've even already scheduled my second appointment. Elliot says once- or twice-weekly sessions are the perfect amount. Any more than that and you risk drying yourself out too much.
The good news is, even if you don't have a spa that offers dry salt therapy near you, you can still take advantage of pink Himalayan salt's benefits with at-home products, like the ones I'm sharing ahead.
