Our prediction for this year's most popular costumes:

1. Lady Gaga
2. Snookie
3. Justin Bieber
4. Anything vampire
5. Anything "Mad Men"

In American culture, October is synonymous with Halloween. As soon as October 1st hits (or maybe before, if you're overly excited about dressing up), a buzz surrounding what costume to wear, and which wig, hairstyle or what type of makeup will best support that chosen character starts to build. However, some of us might not want to sport a full-on costume or has time to, right? Or perhaps leading up to this holiday, we feel compelled to wear some Halloween-inspired hair or makeup looks around town or maybe even to the office to get into the festive mood.

See edgy hair and makeup looks to try for Halloween now.

Because of this fact we've done a little roundup of some celebrity-inspired hair, makeup and nail trends that can pass for being somewhat Halloween-y. We've got everything from "Like a Virgin" hair accessories to hair color reminiscent of the '90s to Geisha and Smurfette-inspired lips and so much more.

Now, if you wanna take it a step further or decide you do have time for a full-on costume, here are a few of our favorite Halloween how-to makeup videos:

Halloween Makeup: Create a Sexy Vampire Look
Halloween Makeup: Classic Pin-Up Girl
Halloween Makeup: Retro '60s Girl

Whimsical eye candy
Lately we've seen several celebrity displaying decorative works of art around their eyes, but we're digging Pixie Lott's feminine take on it here. Feel free to get creative with this -- we're not suggesting that you repurpose your Vajazzle dazzle, but perhaps you can go to the arts and crafts store and find a decal that speaks to you, or even try a temporary tattoo (just make sure whatever you use is eye-safe). Or if you have a steady hand, use a liquid eyeliner to draw a few swirls around the outer corner of one eye and top it with a bit of glitter.

Pin-up girl makeup
Dita Von Teese is always someone who is "in costume," yet always looks fabulous. Lucky for you, her makeup artist, Gregory Arlt, Director of Makeup Artistry from MAC Cosmetics, shares a few key makeup products you'll need to pull off this look:

Foundation: Take this quiz to find the best foundation formula for you.
Pink blush: Apply something like Benefit Thrrrob, $28 to the apples of your cheeks.
Liquid eyeliner: Try one of theses editor-approved, long-wear liners.
Red lipstick: Try one from our roundup of the best lipsticks.

For the full tutorial, check out this video which shows Arlt creating this classic pin-up girl look step-by-step.

Animal-print nail art
Since nails are just as much of an accessory as a scarf or bracelet, take the liberty to break away from your go-to hue and try a funky print this Halloween season. If you're feeling really adventurous, go for a mix of colorful leopard and zebra designs like Ke$ha shows off here. And no, we're not saying you need to actually paint these designs on your own nails, buy a glue-on set to get the look in minutes (try Broadway Nails Fashion Diva Chrome Nails, $5.99).

Extreme smoky eyes
With all the love that vampires are getting this year, we thought you might want to pay homage to this living-dead craze via your makeup. Try Taylor Momsen's black out smoky eye look. And if you really wanna go "True Blood" on us, watch this video on how to create full-on vampire makeup (complete with blood running down the corner of your mouth).
