Benefit Cosmetics was founded in 1976 in San Francisco by twin sisters Jean and Jane Ford. Their flagship store was originally named "The Face Place" and was designed as a beauty boutique to provide multitasking products that quickly grew to achieve cult-status among its customers. The first benefit product ever launched was Rose Tint, a lip and cheek stain that we now know today as Benetint.
The late '80s was when the brand picked up steam and created its roster of products. In 1990, it switched over to the name Benefit and went on to open counters at various department stores like Henri Bendel and Harrod's in the UK. It was purchased by French luxury goods company LVMH in 2001, which helped the brand expand into brows, skin care and bath and body products, and branch out into retail giants like Ulta, Sephora and Macy's.
Benefit furthered the brow experience by creating the Benefit Brow Bar — the ultimate brow pampering spot to help you achieve and maintain the perfect set of arches. Today, Benefit is synonymous with great brows as well as colorfully named products that work (and let's be real, look adorable on your vanity). Ahead, we rank our 15 favorite Benefit Cosmetics products — we're sure you'll see something you need to try stat.
