  • So I got a haircut recently (not one of the daring 'dos seen in these photos ), but a nice little update. Unlike some people that get the whole hair shebang (cut and color) done in one sitting, I prefer to space it out. Why? 1. I get antsy being at a salon too long. 2. It's a big chunk of money to cough up at once (which reminds me of this fab luxe vs. less hair care round up -- it's not to be missed). 3. It's fun to double the just-walked-out-of-the-salon look. 4. I have been going steady with my colorist, but I cheat on him with other stylists for haircuts (sorry, Rick!). 5. Getting a cut usually makes my color look better and visa versa.

  • I finally got a much-needed haircut. Damn, it feels good. I feel lighter and fresher and hip-er. My scissor-happy hairstylist rejoiced at the sound of three plus inches of wet, conditioner-saturated hair hitting the floor. It wasn't like I got something super edgy or drastic like the trendy undercut look seen on this celeb, but I went from flower-child long to a polished, shorter-long 'do.One of the chicks in the salon actually said the cut made my face light up (perhaps because it was the best cut for my face shape).

  • As I developed a big love for the art of dance in college -- it was my minor -- (speaking of "Big Love", see which character from that show made our worst-hair list) I also learned how undervalued it is. Until now … whether you love or love to hate reality TV, the resurgence of talent competition shows a la "Star Search" and the major success of "Dancing with the Stars" -- now 10 seasons deep -- has America finally appreciating dance.

  • I really want an iPad. It's so freakin' nifty. It's like the love child of my iPhone and my Mac laptop. Clearly, I'm a Mac snob (and incidentally, I heart MAC makeup too, so it comes as no surprise that it won a TotalBeauty.com Readers' Choice Award for Best Lipstick) and Steve Jobs et al. never cease to come up with breakthroughs in why-didn't-we-think-of-that technology.

  • Personally, I am much more comfortable behind the scenes than I am in the spotlight. That's why I'm always so amazed by people voluntarily putting their lives on display in the form of reality TV (because they're at risk for things like making a worst-hairstyles list -- like this one about "Dancing with the Stars"). Would you ever want to be a reality TV star? What about becoming the first reality hair star?

  • What do you get when you combine an 18-wheeler, a celebrity hairstylist and a fashionista? A fabulous makeover, of course! John Frieda has joined forces with BCBG to bring you the "John Frieda Style On Site Tour".

  • Without looking in the mirror, do you know what shape your face is? I think I'm round (if you are too, check out the best hairstyles for round face shapes), but then when I asked the gals in my office, some of them agreed with me, but others said I'm more heart-shaped and one said I'm oval. Hmmm … well, at least I can rule out square …

  • One of my favorite shows of all time is "Jeopardy". (Prefer "Dancing With The Stars"? Then check out the best and worst hairstyles from the show here.) Yes, I'm aware that I just outed myself as a total nerd. I feel self-satisfied when I know lots of the answers -- or questions rather -- even if it is the College Edition. I feel extra smug when I get things right that the contestants don't know, especially when it's the final answer.

  • Bridal season is upon us. So far I've been invited to three weddings -- and counting -- and I'm in one (always a bridesmaid …). Is it just me, or have brides been getting prettier and prettier (well, except for this chick who had a wedding day hair nightmare -- read about it here)?

  • Throughout awards season, the only show I really give a hoot about is the Academy Awards (see if our Oscar hairstyle predictions came true -- we sure didn't predict the fate of Sandra Bullock's marriage though … ). Not only do I give a hoot about the Oscars, but I make a point to prepare for them by seeing as many academy-nominated films as possible beforehand (I covet "Inglourious Basterds" Diane Kruger's tousled waves, seen in this photo). And then on the night of the show, I print out ballots for pre-voting and betting (yes, I'm that serious about it) with my friends. This year -- and always -- there were the shoo-ins mixed with the unexpected.
